The Robotics & Intelligent Systems Laboratory under the distinctive title of "RiS -Lab" aims to develop and promote research in the Department of Informatics, Computers and Telecommunications Engineering at the International Hellenic University, in areas involving research and development in Robotics and Intelligent Systems. For this purpose, the Laboratory can undertake the implementation of funded research programs in partnership with the public and private sector.

The Institutionalized "Robotics and Intelligent Systems Laboratory", under the distinctive title of "RiS-Lab", was initially established with the Official Government Gazette 4593/18-10-2018 sq. B' in the former Department of Informatics Engineering T. E. of the School of Technological Applications of the former T.E.I. of Central Macedonia. It was re-established, with the Official Government Gazette 4226/30-09-2020 t.B', in the Department of Informatics, Computers and Telecommunications Engineering of the School of Engineering of the International Hellenic University.  

It aims to develop innovative proposals, tools and application methodologies in the field of scientific areas treated by the Laboratory's Scientific Team. At the same time it promotes collaboration of its Scientific Staff members with other research and technology institutions with the aim of creating solid research cores, as well as gathering experience and expertise within groups of researchers. Indirectly, through its activities, the Laboratory supports the development of the M.Sc. course in "Robotics" and supports the quality upgrade of the education provided, in undergraduate and M.Sc. level.

 

In particular, the "ROBOTICS AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS" Laboratory (Robotics & Intelligent Systems Laboratory) "RiS-Lab " has the following missions:

1. To conduct applied research on the scientific subjects identified for the Laboratory..

2. To cover teaching and research needs at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the scientific areas where the Lab is active.

3. To connect and collaborate, in any form, with research centers and academic institutions, both domestic and abroad, as long as their scientific objectives coincide, keep up and complement with those of the Lab.

4. To cooperate with a) public sector institutions, local government organizations, scientific and social institutions, as well as international organizations, b) private sector institutions, private labs and industries in the context of preparing studies and implementing applications to promote research, solutions to technological problems, conducting economical and technical studies, developing applications, know-how transfer, or the submission of proposals for the implementation of joint research programs in subjects related to the research interests of the Laboratory.

5. The provision of technological services in fields of knowledge related to the academic ethics of scientific subjects.

6. The organization of scientific lectures, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences and other scientific events, editing and publishing scientific material, as well as inviting Greek and foreign recognized scientists.
